Missouri River Basin Lewis & Clark Visitors CenterWhile most of the interpretive centers on the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail focus on expedition history, the focus of the Missouri River Basin Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center in Nebraska City, Nebraska is on the more than 300 discoveries of flora, fauna and scientific discoveries made. These discoveries were made in accordance with President Thomas Jefferson's instructions to conduct a scientific survey of the Louisiana Territory. The three story, 12,000 square foot interpretive center is situated on a scenic 79 acre wooded bluff overlooking the Missouri River, giving today's audience a sense for what greeted the captains on their epic journey. A Keelboat Exhibition Room is located on the entry level, which features a 55 foot long, authentic replica of the keelboat used on the journey. |
