Jackson Bottom Wetlands PreserveJackson Bottom Wetlands Preserve in Hillsboro, Oregon is a 725 acre wildlife reservation. Here you can visit these wetlands that provide a welcome home to thousands of otters, salamanders, beavers, ducks and geese, herons, eagles, and a variety of songbirds who live among the gentle waters, grassy meadows, and in and around the ash and fir trees. As an important part of the Tualatin River wildlife corridor and the Pacific Flyway it is a vital stop, nesting site and nursery ground making it ideal for birds and bird watchers. The Jackson Bottom Wetlands Education Center is a 12,000 square-foot building that features a 3,000 square-foot wrap-around deck to enjoy all of these fantastic views and leads to the Preserves trails. Inside you'll find lots of fun features that are child friendly and exhibit a variety of hands-on and interesting displays for nature enthusiasts of all ages; including the first authentic bald eagles' nest recovered from the wild! |
