Worthwine Island Conservation AreaThe Worthwine Island Conservation Area is located in Andrew Country, Missouri. The almost 600 acres of land includes forest and woodlands, old fields, wetlands, marshlands, and bottomland timber along the Missouri River. The area was mentioned in journal entries of the Lewis & Clark Expedition and was also part of the Platte Purchase of 1836. There are a number of resident wildlife species that make the area home. Recreational activities in the conservation area include bird watching and wildlife viewing and photography, fishing, hunting and canoeing on the Missouri River. There are primitive camping areas available at the parking lots but no additional amenities. |
