Cross Ranch Nature Preserve

The Cross Ranch Nature Preserve in North Dakota contains 6,000 acres of native mixed grass prairie, Missouri River bottomland forest, upland woody draws and prairie potholes. This diverse habitat is located along the banks of the Missouri River where Lewis and Clark once stood. There is abundant wildlife and plant species in the area, including eagles, owls, turkeys, hawks, songbirds, white-tailed and mule deer, raccoons, coyotes, badgers and more. More than 100 archaeological sites have also been located within the preserve, adding to the interest of the area. The preserve offers opportunities for hiking and cross country skiing, in addition to viewing the surrounding flora, fauna and wildlife. The adjacent Cross Ranch State Park also offers an interpretive center, hiking trails, camping and a boat ramp.
