Makoshika State ParkMakoshika State Park is Montana’s largest state park and has a unique array of attractions hosted on its badlands landscape. The park is conveniently located near Glendive, MT. Ma-ko-shi-ka translates to mean “bad land” from the Sioux Indian language. This site is home to many historic and even prehistoric attractions including fossil remains of dinosaurs such as tyrannosaurus rex and triceratops. Makoshika State Park is part of the Montana Dinosaur Trail, and the visitor center at the park entrance features exhibitions about geology and fossil studies. The park is far more than just a significant historical site; there is a wide range of outdoors activities available to its visitors. A network of roads and trails provides for exploration of the pine and juniper dappled badlands. Hiking, bicycling, picnicking, archery, and disc golf provide for endless fun. The campground provides a camp host and group site, as well as both tent and RV camping sites. Makoshika State Park is truly one of a kind. |
