Pirogue Island State Park

Pirogue Island State Park is an untainted haven, featuring 210 acres of beautiful cottonwoods rich with wildlife. The park is located on Yellowstone River near to Miles City, Montana. Lewis and Clark, themselves, must have reveled in the majesty of this magnificent place. The park is accessible by floating or by foot during low water. It is a prime spot for fishing, horseback riding, hiking, picnicking, and bicycling. The 2.4 miles of hiking trails explore this undeveloped wilderness- keep an eye out all along the way for its intriguing inhabitants. Wildlife viewing is exceptional as the site is a haven for Mourning Doves, Northern Flickers, Bald Eagles, and many more. For boating enthusiasts, non-motorized boats can be launched here during the high water season. There are picnic tables and grills provided throughout the park so that visitors can relax and enjoy the animate scenery while feasting from their lunch basket.
