Black Sandy State Park

Black Sandy State Park is located 15 miles northeast of Helena, Montana. It is one of the only public parks featuring property on the shoreline of Hauser Lake. The park is host to a variety of outdoors recreational activities for its visitors’ enjoyment in this wonderful natural environment. Black Sandy State Park is right along the Lewis and Clark trail; the Corps of Discovery traveled through this area in 1805. A boat ramp and courtesy docks provide for boating on the lake. The hiking trail tours through the park’s 43 acres of wilderness and beauty. Interpretive displays tell of the area’s unique history. Water sports enthusiasts have the opportunity to go water skiing on the lake and others can enjoy swimming and boating to their hearts’ content. Hauser Lake affords great fishing prospects with its populations of kokanee salmon and trout. Overnight camping is available on site with restrooms and running water. With its diversity of attractions, Black Sandy State Park is a great place to vacation.
