Tower Rock State ParkBefore Tower Rock was discovered by the Lewis and Clark Expedition, Native American tribes used it as a landmark when entering and leaving the rich buffalo grounds of today's north-central Montana. Tower Rock State Park is located between the town of Craig and Pelican Point Fishing Access Site. The park covers 140 acres of open land and geological intensity. The formation juts its 400 feet of igneous rock into the sky providing incredible photographic opportunities and a unique scenic background for outdoors recreation. Visitors can learn about its geology and history via the interpretive panels at the trail head before hiking the quarter mile to the saddle. Although Tower Rock State Park is for day use only, there are nearby fishing access sites that provide for overnight camping. There are some very powerful opportunities for wildlife observation- watch out for bighorn sheep and rattlesnakes! The whole family can enjoy visiting this beautiful park for fun and enrichment. |
