Memaloose State Park

Memaloose State Park is located in Oregon along the Columbia River (about 11 miles west of The Dalles). Some of the great attractions to Memaloose State Park include water sports (i.e. windsurfing), nature programs, and historic exhibitions. Memaloose Island was historically used by the Chinook Indian tribes as a site for funeral pyres as they sent their honorable lost on to the next life. Memaloose State Park is now a beautiful wilderness retreat with the hottest climate of the Columbia River Gorge (temperatures can reach 110° F). The scorching weather is softened by the tall maple and willow trees as they cast cool, refreshing shade across the luxuriant grasses. Camping is provided for with full hook-up sites as well as showers and restrooms. Families can enjoy stretching out below the skies on clear summer nights to listen to nature’s orchestra and watch for shooting stars.
