Tualatin River National Wildlife RefugeLocated along the outskirts of Portland, Oregon is one of only a handful of urban national wildlife refuges in the U.S., the Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge. The refuge is located within a small portion of the floodplain of the Tualatin River and is home to almost 200 species of birds, as well as over 50 species of mammals, 25 species of reptiles and amphibians, and many varieties of fish. The diversity of habitats within the refuge also allows an abundance of plants to thrive. Visitors to the refuge can enjoy wildlife observation and photography, as well as walking trails, educational opportunities and occasionally special events. |
