Chief Plenty Coups State Park

A short journey south of Billings, MT lies Chief Plenty Coups State Park. The last chief of the Crow tribe was once a ferocious native warrior, but later in life dedicated himself to peaceful cooperation with the white peoples immigrating to his lands. Visitors can enjoy fishing and swimming at Pryor Creek, picnicking under Montana’s big skies, or biking and hiking through the park’s property. The visitor center honors the story of Chief Plenty Coups from birth to death, highlighting his cross-cultural endeavors. Chief Plenty Coups State Park offers 195 acres that echo his peaceful intentions in the songs of its birds and with each gentle wave rippling down Pryor Creek. This is a perfect place to spend the day finding solace in the beauty of nature and learning about the richness of humanity.
