Lewis and Clark Trail State ParkJust 25 miles northeast of Walla Walla, WA, the natural treasure known as Lewis and Clark Trail State Park sets its 37-acres of land on the freshwater shoreline of the Touchet River. Lewis and Clark passed through this area in 1806, making note of its unusual flora. Living history depictions of these explorers are available, and interpretive botany programs tour visitors along the park’s trails. A mix of old-growth forest and surrounding grasslands provide for a unique environment to spend your vacation. Picnic areas and two kitchen shelters equipped with electricity are found around the park. Rainbow and brown trout fishing is unbeatable at Lewis and Clark Trail State Park. Swimming and tubing are also popular activities, here. Remnants of the historic Nimipooiskit trail can still be found nearby. Some original homestead sites remain on the property, allowing for insights to the old ways of life on this stretch of land.
