Great Falls Things To Do

Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail Interpretive Center

The Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail Interpretive Center in Great Falls, Montana, chronicles daily life as the explorers lived it, and celebrates the spirit of discovery through exhibits, films, live presentations and special events. Don’t miss the introductory film by acclaimed documentarian Ken Burns. The exhibit hall’s centerpiece is a two-story diorama of the portage of the Missouri River’s five falls. The center, located on a bluff with spectacular views of the river, is the largest of the museums dedicated to the expedition. The hiking trails provide opportunities to see wildlife, prairie vegetation, scenic views of historic sites including Giant Springs State Park, and several waterfalls. For those traveling in June and July, stop and smell the lovely wildflowers in bloom. But don’t worry – the large variety of native flora and fauna on the grounds ensures that there will be plants blooming from early May through late September.
