Oahe Downstream Recreation Area

Oahe Downstream Recreation Area of Ft. Pierre, SD provides a variety of outdoor activities and nature attractions for the entire family. Home to one of the largest constructed reservoirs in the United States, the park is a very popular vacation spot for boaters and anglers. With access to both Lake Sharpe and Lake Oahe, expect to find a bounty of walleye, sauger, northern pike, bass, and more at the end of your line! Wintertime bird watching affords opportunities to see bald eagles roosting in the treetops below the dam. Four of the 205 camp sites are handicap accessible and all are equipped with electrical hook-ups. For a more comfortable stay, the five available cabins sleep four. Trails for hiking, biking, and cross-country skiing afford a real treat for nature lovers (and great exercise to boot). Play volleyball and horseshoes under the sun, or even shoot a bow and arrow at the 14-station archery range. Oahe Downstream Recreation Area has got it all!
