LaFramboise Island Nature AreaNear the city of Pierre, South Dakota is the unique LaFramboise Island Nature Area, which lies along the Missouri River. The island is home to a variety of bird and wildlife species and is covered in meadows and trees. The area is listed on the Lewis & Clark Bicentennial National Recreation Trail and includes over seven miles of multi-use trails for hiking, walking, biking, snowshoeing and cross country skiing. There is also plenty of species of wildlife to observe, including many birds, bald eagles and deer. LaFramboise Island is near a number of other attractions in South Dakota, including the state capitol, the Cultural Heritage Center, the SD Discovery Center and Aquarium, the city of Pierre, and the Farm Island and Oahe Downstream recreation areas. |
