Farm Island Recreation Area

Farm Island Recreation Area is another fantastic vacation spot along the Lewis and Clark trail. Just east of Pierre, SD, outdoors enthusiasts flock to this park to enjoy its beauty and wide range of recreational activities. This Missouri River reservoir is a great place for fishing; anglers will be catching walleye, small mouth bass, northern pike, and more to their heart’s content! Two boat ramps are provided as well as a handicap accessible fishing dock. The swimming beach is great for lolling around in the sun or taking a dip in the pristine waters. Two campgrounds with a total of 90 camp sites, two camping cabins, two comfort stations (showers included), and a youth group camping area are available for overnight stay. The eight miles of trails leading across the island provide for hiking, cross-country skiing, and bicycling through the beauty of nature. The island nature area features a blind for bird watching and wildlife observation, making it the perfect place to learn about the outdoors.
